Kyp Harness himself points out that the "must-reads" are John McCabe's "Mr Laurel and Mr Hardy" and Randy Skretvedt's "Laurel and Hardy: The Magic Behind the Movies". If you want to learn about Laurel and Hardy, read those, and of course watch the funny movies.
